I am super excited to have Jessica Shirvington by the blog for an interview on her blog tour for Embrace.
If the characters from Embrace got stuck on a deserted island, who would fare the best? The worst? And who would get them off the island?
Good question. I think Griffin and Lincoln would fare the best. I always think of Griffin as having an on-the-land upbringing. And Lincoln is a resourceful guy, he would find food and cook!
Violet’s father, James, would be the worst. Closely followed by Steph. They have never had to exist without modern day luxuries – they’d struggle big time.
I’m not sure who would get them off the island… But if people started walking in opposite directions, I’d be following Violet.
If you could have lunch with one of the characters from Embrace, who would it be?
James, Violet’s father. I’d like to tell him a few home truths!
If you were a mythological creature, which would you be?
Definitely an angel. So much comes with the package – it is universal, historical, and timeless… One can only imagine where it would lead.
What is your writing process like?
Four basic elements.
2. Chapter outlines.
3. Write the first draft.
4. Redraft several times.
When I start writing, I begin with word one on page one and work my way from beginning to end. I know some authors are able to write chapters out of sequence or start from the climax and then work backwards – I can’t. I need to go through it with the characters, feel it as it happens for them and work off their reactions.
If you could travel back in time to any place for a day, where would you go?
I know it isn’t incredibly exciting, but I’d probably go back to my wedding day – it went way too fast!
Can you tell us 5 random facts about yourself?
1. I didn’t fully discover my love of books until I was in my twenties.
2. My first official date with my husband was to see Romeo & Juliet (with Claire Danes and Leonardo Dicaprio) – it’s still one of my favorite movies and soundtracks.
3. I’m terrible at taking down the Christmas tree – one year it stayed up until March.
4. When I start reading a book, I can’t stop until it is finished. I have an obsessive addiction.
5. My favorite Italian city is Bologna.
Thanks so much for stopping by Jessica! Don’t forget to check out my review, and also a giveaway of Embrace, which both went up today as well.

About the Book:
It starts with a whisper: “It’s time for you to know who you are…”
Violet Eden dreads her seventeenth birthday. After all, it’s hard to get too excited about the day that marks the anniversary of your mother’s death. As if that wasn’t enough, disturbing dreams haunt her sleep and leave her with very real injuries. There’s a dark tattoo weaving its way up her arms that wasn’t there before.
Violet is determined to get some answers, but nothing could have prepared her for the truth. The guy she thought she could fall in love with has been keeping his identity a secret: he’s only half-human—oh, and same goes for her.
A centuries-old battle between fallen angels and the protectors of humanity has chosen its new warrior. It’s a fight Violet doesn’t want, but she lives her life by two rules: don’t run and don’t quit. When angels seek vengeance and humans are the warriors, you could do a lot worse than betting on Violet Eden…
