The second in the incredible new Rules of Scoundrels series from New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean.
Lady Philippa Marbury is odd. The bespectacled, brilliant fourth daughter of the Marquess of Needham and Dolby cares more for books than balls, flora than fashion and science than the season. Nearly engaged to Lord Castleton, Pippa wants to explore the scandalous parts of London she’s never seen before marriage. And she knows just who to ask: the tall, charming, quick-witted bookkeeper of The Fallen Angel, London’s most notorious and coveted gaming hell, known only as Cross.
Like any good scientist, Pippa’s done her research and Cross’s reputation makes him perfect for her scheme. She wants science without emotion—the experience of ruination without the repercussions of ruination. And who better to provide her with the experience than this legendary man? But when this odd, unexpected female propositions Cross, it’s more than tempting . . . and it will take everything he has to resist following his instincts—and giving the lady precisely what she wants.
One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean…how do I even begin to explain this one? Since the day I finish A Rogue By Any Other Name, I have been pining away for this book. One Good Earl Deserves a Lover is slow path of seduction that is absolutely bewitching.
Pippa Marbury is my favorite Sarah MacLean heroine to date. She is smart, brave, and willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Her drive to have knowledge is what leads her on the whirlwind of sensual and absolutely romantic events that happen to her.
Cross is a master wordsmith. The tension between him and Pippa was so intense, without even a touch between them. I loved the integrity of his character. He was a perfect match for Pippa in both brains and overall character. The scenes between the two of them, just wow. Some of the steamiest, heated scenes I’ve read in a historical romance find themselves on the pages of One Good Earl Deserves a Lover.
The subplot to the book was curious. Cross’s past was really interesting and there were times when I wish a little more about that was explained or explored more. By the end of the book readers really get a sense of the past, but I wanted to know more about Knight since he has such a large role in the book.
The ending left me speechless. It was absolutely adorable and so heartwarming. One Good Earl Deserves a Lover really just invoked all the feelings in me. I finished absolutely glowing, so immensely happy as the ending that had come to pass.
Sarah MacLean continuously grows as an author. I love that with each book I fall a little more in love with her writing, her stories, and her characters. One Good Earl Deserves a Lover is her best yet and I simply loved it.
Sarah MacLean is simply a goddess of romance. I will read whatever she writes. The characters she creates and the stories she shares are just magical. One Good Earl Deserves a Lover is an absolutely enchanting romance and my favorite of Sarah MacLean’s books yet.
