I know I’m a bit late to the game here, but I’ve been recommending books to my students left and right as we get into the last month of school and some are looking for books to read. Therefore, I wanted to share some of my favorites (especially some older goodies) and some of the ones just flying off the shelves in my classroom.
- Firstlife by Gena Showalter
This was one of those books that snuck up on me; I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. I’ve been recommending it to students, and every student who has read it has loved it.
- The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
I just love the post apocalyptic nature and the vampires combined. It’s a unique combination, and Julie Kagawa rocks it out of the park.
- I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter
Ally Carter is witty and awesome. Girls love this series, and I still love it. I’ve read this series time and time again.
- Hold Me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt
Possibly one of the best contemporaries I’ve ever read in my life. I am so in love with this book.
- The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
I love this series, and even though it’s been out a number of years, it doesn’t cease to be awesome. This is another that I find I can rec to students, and they love it.
- I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
This one is particularly popular with the boys, and even some that are a bit more of reluctant readers seem to be loving it.
