Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris–the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She’s determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.
Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls’ bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett’s only friend–but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they’ve worked for?
I have been hearing the praises for Jackson Pearce‘s books for quite a while, but still haven’t gotten around to reading one. Boy am I sad I waited so long! With her modern twist on Little Red Red Riding Hood, Sisters Red is a darker, gruesome read that will captivate you until the very last page.
I just loved this one. Right off the bat, I was completely drawn into the story. I could not wait to see what was going to happen next and to discover more about what path the story would take. The story was so intriguing and I read straight through this one in 2 hours! It was just so much fun to read.
The characters were so great. I loved Rosie’s spirit and her unwavering determination. So many things she did had me smiling as I was reading. Silas was great as well – he was such a sweet guy!
Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce was such a fun retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. I loved the liberties Jackson Pearce took with the story and how much grittier it was than the good ol’ story we all know and hear. I cannot wait to check out more by Jackson Pearce now!
